The extension to the Hoge Mauw business park in Arendonk has welcomed its first new commercial resident. The company is called SAER Benelux/MPI Pumps & Irrigation. Their new branch serves to centralise their offices, formerly located in Oud-Turnhout, and the warehouse, formerly in Overpelt. Barely four and a half months passed between the start of the groundworks and the relocation. “Our season begins on 1 March and the relocation had to be completed by that time”, says general manager Reinier Teunissen. “Our contractor, Alfa Bouw from Hamont, and their subcontractors did a great job.”
MPI Pumps & Irrigation is a technical wholesaler for pumps, irrigation and pressure piping systems. SAER Benelux is an importer and distributor of the eponymous Italian pumps in the Benelux. Customers include high-end DIY stores, gardening, well drilling, dry-suction, agriculture companies, etc.
1.1 million invested
Teunissen explains: “We couldn’t grow or expand in Oud-Turnhout. Back in 2010, we temporarily relocated our warehousing to Overpelt. When the opportunity arose to buy land here, we didn’t hesitate.” The company purchased a plot of 1,800m2 and built a 1,450m2 building that includes offices, a warehouse and a test centre. The investment amounted to EUR 1.1 million (including the land but excluding VAT).
“The IOK and municipality of Arendonk did a magnificent job”, explains Reinier Teunissen. “The motorway is nearby, which is convenient for transport-heavy companies. We wanted to find a central location in the Benelux and as close to the border as possible.” The expansion adds a total of 29 plots to the business park.
SAER Benelux/MPI Pumps & Irrigation has organised an open house for professional clients next week. The company employs 10 people.
