OPERATING PRINCIPLE The water softener ensures consistently good waterquality and removes hardness from the water. No chemicals, additives, or additional technical equipment are required – only standard regeneration salt is needed. The entire system is automatically cleaned during each regeneration. In the ion exchange process, water is passed over the ion exchange resin. Hardness formers such as calcium and magnesium ions are exchanged for sodium ions. When the capacity of the softening system is exhausted, the ion exchange resin is regenerated with brine, and the hardness-forming minerals are discharged into the wastewater.
